The Grey Pearl for Lily(the magic black stone)

This is for May, age 7, younger of 2 (brother seen as smart but selfish), referred because of school refusal. Exhibits anxiety like symptoms in anticipation of activity she dislikes

Once upon a time, on an island called Pupupapan, lived a little girl named Lily Lee. She was sweet as honey and quiet as a mouse. Every one on Pupupapan loved her, but she is not so sure that her brother, Bee Gee Lee, loved her. Lily admired BG who is very smart and always winning prizes; he joins all the competitions and brings home trophies all the time. Lily however is afraid and never had any trophy to call her own. Mama Lee could not understand why Lily was not more like her brother and tried to make Lily join in the competitions.

What is the use, only BG wins in competitions; and when Lily yet again failed to remember all the words and had not trophy to show for her efforts, she felt sad and small. Sometime she would ask BG for help, but he said it would only be a waste of his time, and he’ll end up scolding her.
‘If only I was super smart like BG’ thought Lily.

Soon Lily Lee felt afraid and don’t want to join in any of the activities, as it felt so difficult even to just stand there with everyone. Lily started feeling terribly scared, just thinking about it.

On the day Lily was born her father, who was the champion fisherman on the island, brought home the biggest, shiniest and best looking grey pearl ever seen on Pupupapan. He kept it in a safe place, had made into a necklace on a simple string and as promise gave it to Lily on her first birthday. Every year Fisherman Lee would take Lily to the Jewelers to make sure the string was not too short or too long.
Lily used to hate going to the jewelers as they made so much fast and she gets very anxious and shy when they all gathered around her.

One day as they have put her pearl on a new string and knotted it round her neck, Lily heard, ‘that is just magical, I am sure if you rub it, magic will pour out of the pearl.’ Not sure as who have just said that Lily quietly looked around and saw her father agreed,’ yes, yes, the day I found it, it felt magical too; and I rush home to find Lily being born.’

That night when she was alone, Lily rubbed on her pearl and she turned into a dragon, brave and elegant, wise and regal. The dragon can go any where and able to take care of self and others. There is so much the dragon can do and do it well. Lily felt so wise as she know what to say, when and how to put things right and best of all she does not feel afraid. It felt so good to be the dragon that Lily was reluctant to touch the pearl, she wanted this to go on and on. Lily enjoyed herself so much, dance about to celebrate and clutch the pearl in a gesture of thankfulness, before she realize what she is doing.

Lily turned back to the little girl, but the wonderful feeling continued. Lily the girl remained wise and brave, felt able to look after herself anywhere and being thankful she touches her pearl again. Now Lily would touch her grey pearl to remind herself that she is wise, brave and able to look after herself.

Princess Nita

Princess Nita

Once upon a time there was a pretty princess named Nita. When she was born the king and queen loved her so much; they held a grand party to show off their new born. Everybody was invited; all those who could come flog to the palace grounds and many brought presents. Even the fairies came and amongst them they brought Princess Nita a lovely pouch that can only hold a limited amount of things in it. This pouch keeps filling itself with chocolate, cakes, ice cream and cola drinks; however when there are too much things in it, it overflows. When that happens an alarm goes off in the castle. The alarm makes such a loud noise that it disturbs the king, the queen and even the servants; when that happens they became quite upset. In the beginning that happened a lot especially when Nita fell asleep. Nita became very sad and did not know what to do. So the king consulted the fairies, who told his majesty to build a special well for Nita to store all the things from the pouch; there they will be kept safe. Whenever Nita notice that her pouch is nearly full she would run to her special well to empty out her magical pouch. The well began to fill up with chocolate and ice cream. When Nita forgets to run to the well and put away all the goodies or falls asleep her pouch overflows and off goes the alarm. The king and queen wanted to help Nita and frequently say to Nita ‘Time to go to your special well’. When Nita went to her special well, sometimes the fairies are there too. Nita asked the fairies, ‘What will happen when this place gets full.’ The fairies said, ‘don’t worry, we can always can invited everybody and hold a great big party.’ Nita invited a few friends the next day and they had a lovely time enjoying eating and playing. That night Nita was so tired she forgot to visit the well before going to bed. The alarm went off and everything in the well melted and was drained away. Nita was sad; when she went to the king, he promised to help Nita. They consulted with the fairies again and it was decided that they will teach Nita to sew an invisible zipper to the keep the opening of the pouch closed; and when it is nearly full Nita can then unzip it at the well to put away all her cakes and drinks. However Nita will have to follow a schedule to visit the well. (Time table given) On her next visit to the well Nita sat with the fairies and started working on the zipper. The fairies danced around Nita singing ‘come to the well 5 times a day, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.’ And they set about helping Nita put in the invisible zipper; Nita made frequent visits to the tower during the day and always visit before going to bed and first thing in the morning. Nita worked hard and can’t wait for her pouch to be completed with zipper. Now Nita can keep what ever she wants in it; she still visits her tower 5 times a day but it does not overflow any more. Soon the well was full with cakes and drinks.
As promised, the great party was held and Princess Nita was so happy to see the king and queen enjoying themselves; even the servants came to ask Nita to dance with them. The fairies gathered round Nita and were very proud that now that the pouch has a zipper it will be a perfect gift. Everybody who came had a good time and thank Nita for all her wonderful ice cream and cakes. Nita felt so happy and that night slept through till morning; visited the well first thing on awakening and when she felt her pouch becoming full. The castle was now a very happy place where Nita can be seen singing and dancing in her garden.

Once upon a time there was a pretty princess named Nita. The king and queen loved her so much. They were so happy that every one in the kingdom was invited to the castle to see the princess. Some of the people who came brought her a present. One of her present was a magical pouch, which keeps filling itself with chocolate cake, ice cream and coca cola. But the pouch was made in such a hurry that it could only contain a limited amount of things in it. When this pouch is empty it is white in colour and it turns pink, then red when it become nearly full; however when there are too much things in it, it overflows. When that happens an alarm goes off in the castle. The alarm makes such a loud noise that it disturbs the king, the queen and even the servants; when that happens they became quite upset. In the beginning that happened a lot especially when Nita fell asleep. Nita became very sad and did not know what to do. So the fairies told the king to build a special well for Nita to put all the things from the pouch to keep it safe. Now when Nita notice that her pouch is nearly full she runs to her special tower to empty out her magical pouch. The tower began to fill up with toys, chocolate and ice cream. When Nita forgets to run to the tower and put away all the goodies or falls asleep her pouch overflows and off goes the alarm. The king and queen wanted to help Nita and frequently say to Nita ‘Time to go to your special tower’. When Nita went to her special tower, sometimes the fairies are there too. Nita asked the fairies will I do when this place gets full. The fairies said, ‘don’t worry, we can always a party and you can invited all your friends.’ Nita invited a few friends the next day and they had a lovely time enjoying eating and playing. That night Nita was so tired she forgot to visit the tower before going to bed. The alarm went off and Nita was sad, when she went to the king in the afternoon he told her that he had ordered her a new bag, but Nita will have to follow a schedule to visit the tower. (Time table given) On her next visit to the tower Nita told the fairies about what the king has promised. The fairies danced around Nita singing ‘come to the tower 5 times a day, first thing in the morning and last thing at night’. ’We’ll help you make your own bag’ said the fairies. And they set about helping Nita get the new bag ready. As it’ll be Nita’s birthday the next week, they all got busy and; Nita made frequent visits to the tower during the day and always visits before going to bed and first thing in the morning. Nita can’t wait for her new bag. Soon the tower was full with toys and all the cakes you can think of. Then as promise Nita had everybody come to her birthday party and was given a new bag. Now Nita can keep what ever she wants in it; she still visits her tower 5 times a day but it does not overflow any more.

Samsang Sam and the Swan

Heeee!! Heee!!Hee!!

My name is Samseng Sam; I am brown but prefer to be blue. I live in a village called Dalam Kolam. There is a lovely pond at the bottom of our village. From the pond we get our fresh water and fishes. Nobody is allowed to live too near the pond; all our houses are at least 10 feet away.

In Dalam Kolam also lived TomMeow the cat, with his family; his father Mr. Meow, mother Mrs Meow, grandpa MoorMeow and sister Kittymeow. Others in our beautiful and bountiful village are SillyBilly and NastyNanny Goat, LuckyQuacky the goose and my good friend TopDog the Bully.

I and Topdog keep a lookout and guard the pond. The Meow family is always trying to go into the pond to catch fish, even when it is not allowed. Then Luckquacky is forever trying to go for a swim. Only Sillybilly keeps to the rules but sometimes Nastynanny would lead him to the turfs of grass too near the pond.

We are allowed to go near and into the pond three times a day and the times are clearly stated on the notice board. At other times Topdog would bark at and bites those who tried to come too near, I, Samsang Sam will heehaw at them, kicking at those near enough.

Only Topdog will be my friend, the others will not play or share their food with me, not even Sillybilly. They say I am naughty and complain to the Bigbird who comes, every so often, to change the notice board. Then Bigbird would call me then tie me to the house, so I can’t help Topdog guard the pond for the day. Sometimes it’s Topdog who gets tied up and I have a hard time doing the job all by myself. That makes me so sad and felt like crying. What can I do?

Things go on like this for weeks and months and nothing changes; Bigbird came, put her notice board up, the Meow family and Luckyquacky tried to go into the river. Topdog and I Samseng Sam bark, bite, kick and heehaw till Sillybilly became more and more like Nastynanny, and at times the rules seemed real silly too. EEEErrrr….. What can be done??

One day as Topdog and I was going up and down guarding the pond we notice a swan, with snow white feathers and moving so gracefully, but looked so sad and lonely. Without thinking I walked near to the edge of the pond and asked, ‘What are you doing here? Where did you come from?”

The Swan replied” I am Snowand and I don’t know why I am here. I tired and need to rest in your pond for a time.”

Samsang Sam said, “But you can’t stay in the pond, following the time table you are only allowed to stay for short periods three times a day.”

Snowand replied, “I’ll only stay till I am strong enough to fly off and join my family.’

Topdog butt in, “No, No, you must get out now, it is still off time, get out or I’ll bite you.”

Samsang Sam added, “Please come out of the pond, Hee!! Hee!! I’ll look after you and when it’s time you can go back in.’

At the Snowand came to the edge and stepped out of the water, but when she landed on her left foot she dropped down with a screech eeeeee… ‘oh, it hurts, I must have being shot in my feet, that’s why I got lost from the flock.”

Samsang Sam, “ What can we do? You can’t stand on your feet and we can’t allow you to stay in the pond”

Topdog. ‘This wouldn’t do, you just can’t stay here. Fly away and that will the end of the problem.’

Snowand replied, “ I too tired to fly I need rest and you have such a lovely pond, I won’t disturb anyone, Just let me rest till I strong enough to fly again”

By then the others have approached the pond as it was nearly time for them to fish and wash and gather water for the evening. Sillybilly was so exicted, “ look, look Nastynanny, she is white as snow. If I could swim I’ll stay in the pond to keep her company.”

Nastynanny,’ Don’t be silly, Sillybilly, you will drown and then ruin the water for all of us.”

The meow family came together and said, ‘We don’t see why Snowand can’t stay in the pond, that’s her natural home after all.’

Luckyqaucky added, ‘yes, and I can keep her company for tonight at least.”

Samsang Sam was all for the idea,’ Yes, lets just for tonight have Luckyquacky look after Snowand and we can see how the rest of us can help tomorrow.”

Topdog barked,” what will happen, rules are rules and we can’t have all of you breaking the rules.” trying to bite Tommeow who happened to be standing next to him.

On seeing that, Moormeow and Mr. and Mrs Meow together turn on Topdog and chase him into the pond. ‘Well, who is breaking the rules now!!’ shouted everybody.

Topdog, furious, walk off to dry himself.

In the mean time Snowand had slipped back into the pond, and said, “I know I am causing you all problems but really I will be more comfortable in here and I won’t drown or dirty your water. Only let me rest and tomorrow if I am able I’ll fly to join my family.”

Samsang Sam then realize rules are made for a good reason but sometimes sticking strictly to rules and especially to use the rule to hurt others is not bright or right.

As things turned out, Snowand stayed for 5 days giving each and everyone the opportunity to keep her company at different times. On the last day everyone brought their food and eat together by the pond. After the fabulous feast Snowand promised she would drop in when ever she flies by this way, then Snowand flapped her wings and flew off to join her family.
